Xavi Puebla holds a degree in Information Science and a diploma in Film Directing and Screenwriting Direction. After the award-winning short film Friday, nominated for the Goya Awards for best fiction short film, Puebla directs his debut feature: Noche de fiesta (2002). With a tight budget and produced entirely by the film school, the film constructs an original discourse about social customs and youth. His second film as a director and screenwriter, 'Bienvenido a Farewell-Gutmann' (2007), receives several awards: best script at the Festival des Films du Monde in Montreal, best actress (Ana Fernández) and best music at the 11th Malaga Film Festival. And the Gaudí Award for best-supporting actor (Pep Anton Muñoz) and for the best script.'A Puerta Fria' (A Cold Door, 2013), his third fiction feature film, was premiered at Malaga Film Festival, where he receives the Critics Award and Best Actor Award for Antonio Dechent. The film was also awarded a the Festival du Film Espagnol de Toulouse, for Best Actor and the Best Script.He has also made the documentaries 'Cap a Quimelca' (2009) and 'Cartas desde la Locura' (2013). Since 2000, he combines cinematographic activity with teaching.
