Sumie García

Sumie García Hirata (Mexico City, 1986) graduated with honors from Savannah College of Art and Design with a fine art degree focused on film direction. Her work in film production and post-production includes films such as Echo of the Mountain by Nicolás Echevarría and The Gaze of the Sea by Jose Álvarez. Her work as a visual and video artist has been recognized in individual and collective shows in international fairs and galleries, including OCCCA in California (2014) and Pink Art Fair in Seoul, South Korea (2015). Her documentary film project Familiar Tale was the recipient of the national Young Creators Grant by FONCA 2015-2016 and had its world premiere at Visions du Réel in Nyon, Switzerland.
