Marta Valverde (Nigrán, 1994) develops her artistic vision halfway between traditional cinema and contemporary art. Her fields of action range from autobiographic explorations to addressing current issues such as precariousness, the job market, and feminism. She is also interested in the formal aspects of live formats and in the combination of documentary and fiction.
She has a master’s degree in technological art from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and more recently she has been granted a scholarship by Escuela SUR from the Círculo de Bellas Artes (Madrid).
Co-creator of the space 'Fuck this studio' in Vigo, she directs her own audiovisual projects and combines this activity with other jobs such as VJ in musical events, performances, and theater; editor and director´s assistance.
Her films have been selected at festivals such as Curtocircuito, S8 Cinema Periférico, and Novos Cinemas. She has participated in several collective exhibitions, and in 2022 made several performative presentations, between live cinema and conference for different festivals, including Márgenes, Emergencias sessions (Matadero Madrid), Documenta Madrid, García-Pelayo retrospective (Museo Reina Sofía) or Playdoc, Percorridos program.
