Guillermo García López is a filmmaker born in Madrid, Spain.

His first work, FRÁGIL EQUILIBRIO, won the Goya Award for Best Documentary Feature after its world premiere at IDFA and also received the Doc España award at SEMINCI, in addition to many other awards and selections in Austin, Edinburg, Reykjavik, Teheran, Thessaloniki, and more.

His short film AUNQUE ES DE NOCHE (2023), premiered at the Festival de Cannes Official Selection, nominated for the Palme d’Or. The film was also selected many other film festivals, including Curtas Vila do Conde and the San Sebastián Film Festival, as part of the Zabaltegi-Tabakalera section.

Also in the Festival de Cannes in 2023, he premiered his short film AS GAVIOTAS CORTAM O CÉU at the Quinzaine des Cinéastes.

His short film LO-TECH REALITY (2022), a result of his collaboration with the Detroit techno collective Underground Resistance, continues its journey through international festivals and museums after premiering at ZINEBI and Ann Arbor.

He is currently preparing his feature film CIUDAD SIN SUEÑO, developed at the Spanish Film Academy Residency, at the script labs of Torino and Berlinale and La Résidence du Festival de Cannes.

In 2020, Guillermo received the prestigious Princess of Girona Award for Arts and Literature.
