Ana Pfaff

Ana Pfaff is a film editor, filmmaker and teacher from Barcelona. 

As an editor, she has focused her work on personal and independent films from the new Catalan and Spanish film scene. She has edited with filmmakers such as Carla Simón, Meritxell Colell Aparicio, Carolina Astudillo, Chema García Ibarra, Laura Herrero Garvín, Eloy Dominguez Serén, Adrián Orr and Clara Roquet. These films have been premiered at national and international festivals (Berlinale, Cannes Semaine de la critique, IFFR, Locarno, SSIFF, Visions du réel, Tempo FF or Cinema du Réel). Highlights include the feature film directed by Carla Simón, ALCARRÀS, winner of the Golden Bear at the 72nd Berlinale and candidate for the Oscars.

Her work as an editor has been recognized with two Gaudí Awards for best editing; nominations for the Goya, Gaudí, Fénix, Platino, CEC, and Mestre Mateo Awards; the Sinfin honour award at FIJR Granada, the CIMA Award for a Best Filmmaker at Alcances and the award for Best Editing at Sol e Luna Doc FF. Festivals such as FIJR, FICQ, or DocsMontevido have proposed focuses for her work.

As a filmmaker, she is a member of the Dostopos collective together with the film editor Ariadna Ribas. Her work has been presented at the CCCB, CA2M, the Malaga Festival, and the Lanzarote Festival. REVERIE is part of the Xcentric archive and has been shown at various international exhibitions. He has been responsible for the visuals for the Galas of the Spanish National Orchestra. MEDITERRANI was exhibited at The Photographer's Gallery. FEMER, co-directed with Jaume Coscollar, received a special mention from the jury at Curtocircuito.

In the field of pedagogy, she is an associate professor at UPF and teaches regularly at UPF/BSM, ESCAC, Master FRAME, or EFTI. She has also taught classes and workshops at EQZE, Chavón Film, EICTV, ECIB, and festivals such as DocsMontevideo, FICQ, FIJR, and l'Alternativa.
