Andrea Fernández (Valladolid, 1980) is a filmmaker and audiovisual editor, as well as a professor of Cinematographic Direction and Editing and Post-Production at the Tecnocampus Foundation (UPF).
She holds a degree in Art History with a Ph.D. in Women's and Gender Studies. Her research project on the role of female artists in abstract expressionism was published by the Lilith editorial, from the Gender Studies department of the University of Alicante (2007). After completing her master's in Cultural Management at the University of Barcelona (2006), she worked in this field until 2009.
In 2009, she switched professional fields and began working self-taught in the audiovisual world. She has written, directed, and edited the short films UN DÍA DE CRISIS (A Day of Crisis, 2009), the 1st prize winner of the Art Jove de Castilla y León Cinematographic Script, NONCITY (2010), selected in international festivals such as DocLisboa and the New York Independent Film Festival, DESPEDIDA (2011), selected at SEMINCI Valladolid and Special Mention in the International Vila do Conde Festival, and UNDERGODS (2020), selected at the Perifèrics Bold Cinema Festival (2022).
After a period in Lisbon, where she worked and studied Cinematographic Direction at the Lisbon School of Arts (2011), she returned to Barcelona and specialized in audiovisual editing, completing the UPF Postgraduate Course in Editing (2017). She alternates this work with teaching in the Audiovisual Media degree at the Tecnocampus University.
She has worked on editing documentaries for UNWOMEN (The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women), the UNEP program, Discovery Channel, Al Jazeera, etc., and as an editing assistant alongside Ariadna Ribas and Juliana Montañes on various feature film projects.
In addition, she has created video essay pieces for the CCCB's "Soy Cámara" program, such as EL RECUERDO DE ROSTRO "The Memory of a Face" and TEXTILE BLUES "Textile Blues," as well as several music videos for groups in Lisbon and Barcelona, such as "Linhas cruzadas" (Universal Music).
Her film MI TÍO was selected for the mentoring program of L'Alternativa Festival and the 1st Test of the Rec Tarragona Festival for film projects.
