Alex Sardà (Barcelona), director, screenwriter and photographer graduated from ESCAC, has been awarded the Gaudí Award for Best Short Film for THE PRINCE ('El príncep', 15L Films, Canada, 2024). It premiered at SEMINCI 2024 where it won Best National Short Film. It continues to collect awards in its festival run.
His previous short film, FUGA (Nanouk Films, Movistar+, 2021), was highlighted by Cahiers du Cinéma (Spain) as one of the shorts of the year 2021 and won several awards for Best Performance by Enric Auquer at the Málaga Festival and Premios Pávez, among others. Together with his first short film, GANG (Nanouk Films, 2020), the three shorts function as a triptych in the exploration of contemporary masculinities and their conflicts.
He made his feature film debut with the documentary HAFREIAT (15L Films, Al Jazeera, 2022), premiered at Sheffield DocFest 2022, awarded as Best National Documentary at SEMINCI 2022, with the Special Mention of the Jury at Miradasdoc 2023 and with the International Audience Award at Amman Film Fest 2023.
