León Siminiani is a screenwriter and director.
He has explored different formats and genres in eight short films and two feature documentaries halfway between diary films and film essays: MAP (2012) and NOTES FOR A HEIST FILM (2018), both nominated for the Goya in the Best Documentary category. He has also written and directed two documentary TV series for platforms THE ASUNTA CASE (Atresmedia/ Netflix, 2016) and THE ALCASSER MURDERS (Netflix, 2019). In 2022 he releases 800, a new documentary TV series for Netflix about the 17A bombing attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils.
While preparing his third feature film for theaters, in recent years he has been immersed in the slow gestation of two short films which mark his return to the territory of the film-essay. THE STILLNESS SYNDROME (2021), Fugas Documenta Madrid Award, ALCINE Grand Prix and Best Short Film at Mar del Plata; and EMOTIONAL ARCHITECTURE 1959, Goya Spanish Academy Award for Best Narrative Short Film and international premiere at IFFR Rotterdam Film Festival in 2023.
