Santiago, 1985

She began her audiovisual career in the early 2000s, experimenting with videos and short films. Graduated in Audiovisual Direction at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and co-founder of the production company Cinestación where she is now Director and Executive Producer. She has premiered films at festivals such as Berlinale, Cannes, Rotterdam, Valdivia, and Sundance.

She debuted in feature films with DE JUEVES A DOMINGO (Thursday Till Sunday, 2012), winner of the Best Film at the Valdivia International Film Festival. After her master's degree in Film Direction at the Superior School of Cinema and Audiovisuals in Catalonia, co-directed with Katarzyna Klimkiewicz LA ISLA and released EL MAR (2014), his second feature film, in co-production with Argentina.

She made history at the Locarno Film Festival in 2018 becoming the first woman to win the Golden Leopard Award for Best Direction for her film TARDE PARA MORIR JOVEN (Too Late to Die Young, 2018). She also won a Tiger Award at the Rotterdam Festival and the Film Critics Circle Award in the Netherlands.

In 2021 she is part of the collective film THE YEAR OF THE EVERLASTING STORM, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, and was co-directed with Anthony Chen, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, David Lowery, Laura Poitras, Malik Vitthal and Jafar Panahi.
